Valentine Bunting

Don't throw away your old sheets and pillow cases!!!!
You never know when you might need them for a craft project. Using satin ribbon, free hand cut scrapbook hearts, Cricut machine cut  keys,  free Valentine's printables from B Nutre Blog and yes, a vintage looking sheet from the thrift store, I went to work. I knew the sheet would serve well as a layering piece for the dessert table under the vintage bed spread I found and as part of the backdrop bunting. I simply tore off strips from the sheet to my desired length and tied them onto a ribbon I attached to my backdrop board. From there I tied on my ribbon, paper hearts, and clothes pinned on the Valentine cards.(Love those).

I tied up mason jars I had with lace,ribbon,a paper key and glittery heart. I skewered chocolate hearts onto a stick and tied with a little pink ribbon. I wanted to use fresh flowers but my garden was bare and I was not willing to pay for overpriced flowers during the Valentine season. I like the way the candy hearts served as "flowers" and a treat as well.

In keeping with the Key To My Heart theme, we recycles t.p. rolls into favor crackers. The keys were made using the Cricut machine, and dollar store foam glitter hearts were attached with double sided tape.

 We stuffed the favors with dollar store candy.

 Aren't these the cutest things?! We love them. Found these mini Hershey bar wrappers here , for  for free! We just love looking at them!  Easy to make.Simply, print, cut and assemble for a beautiful presentation!

Key To My Heart Sweets Part 2

Who doesn't love lemon? These sweet little lemon pound cakes were very easy to make using a box of lemon cake mix and box of lemon pudding! Baked in a silicon mold and drizzled with powdered sugar and vanilla glaze.


Lace and Valentine's Day just seem to go so well together. I choose a free label from WorldLabel.com to use for all the dessert table foods. Layered the label onto DCWV scrapbook paper and lace trim. The sweet little clothes pin stand I found at Michael's in the dollar bins, 4 for $1.00 I could not let that one pass me by!

The heart toppers were cut free hand using DCWV scrapbook paper and I layered on top a free music sheet graphic I found from The Graphic Fairy. (Love her things). Once assembled I taped the topper onto a sharp toothpick and decorated the tops of the pound cakes.

Key To My Heart Sweets

In keeping with the vintage Valentine theme I choose sweets I remembered from childhood.

My mother would serve angel food cake at family gatherings and it was perfect for this tea.

I used store bought angel food cake, whipped topping flavored with a hint of raspberry, pale pink pearls found at Michael's (which we also used for our heart sugar cookies) and crystal sugar. Budget minded, pretty and tasty all in one!

The cake bunting was a diy craft which I found for free at TheTomKatStudio. I hung it on some thread I had which I found at our local thrift store. The bunting really added so much vintage appeal to the cake and the over all dessert table. For your next gathering if baking from scratch is not an option, but you still want to present "that something special" in diy fashion, check out the grocery store and doctor it up a bit. Free Valentine's Day Party Invitations

This free personal use Valentine's Day party invitation template has a simple color scheme: pink and black. I love the simplicity of those two colors and how well they work together. For some reason, that color combination reminds me of Paris. (Not that I've ever been there, mind you!) Since Paris is the City of Love and this is a Valentine's day party invitation, that seems appropriate.

The cute string of doodled hearts and the scattered hearts background are courtesy of DeliciousScraps.com, which has a wonderful selection of free artwork and a great shop with inexpensive, high quality images. The font is from KevinandAmanda.com.

Free Valentine Party Invitations

This free printable Valentine's Day party invitation has a design that should look familiar to young and old. It features pastel candy hearts, the kind that kids have loved to exchange (and eat) on Valentine's Day for decades. Because these candy hearts have been around for generations and are a part of so many people's memories, this valentine invitation is perfect for either kids Valentine's Day parties or for more sophisticated events thrown by adults. The illustrations incorporated into the design come from Picnik, the free online graphics program anyone can use. It's an amazing program. Check it out!

The art for this invitation is in a square format but you don't necessarily have to use it that way. (To see instructions for creating square invitations or to order from a selection square envelopes offered by Amazon, visit my free valentine party invitations hub.) You can also use the art as a rectangular card. For example, you could place the art on the top two-thirds of a 5" x 7" card, then tie a ribbon with a fun printed pattern around the bottom of the card. If you do, it might be a good idea to use some dry adhesive strips or dabs of glue to make sure the ribbons don't slide off the cards. You might also want to put small bits of glitter glue in the upper right corner of each heart, where there are currently starbursts. This will make the cards sparkle and look like they were professionally produced.
