A Boy's Easter Garden Party Part 2

We love the thought of a boy playing out in the garden and finding a fallen birds nest on the ground, only to rescuse it and carefully set it inside his baseball glove!

We are so excited to present to you this years Easter party!

Our theme this year was "A Boy's Easter Garden" and our vision was what a boy would have, find and play with in his garden at Easter time. Since there are so many pictures, we will break this into two posts.

We hope you enjoy the party pictures!

Happy Easter - Egg Decorating

Happy Easter Everyone!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your families!

I thought I would share with you the Easter Eggs we decorated this year.

I can't wait to see where the bunny hides them tomorrow!

We thought it would be fun to dye our eggs with Kool-Aid.

So we chose four different flavors, added the packets to a small bowl with water and some vinegar, and stirred.

Of course... we had to make a bit of a mess, right?

Then we started to dip our eggs (we used blown eggs... I love to save a bunch each year).

We found that of the four we chose, the Black Cherry (red) and Wild Berry (blue) worked the best.

They love this!

And here is our tray full of colored eggs.

But we wanted to do more....

So we placed a few in a colander on top of a bowl, and dropped a couple drops of food coloring on top.

Swirled around a bit, then transfered to the rack to dry.

Then our eggs looked like this.

ok... so that still wasn't enough for us...

So I used some Modge Podge and some colored, fine glitter, and created this!

So now we have a very pretty, colorful collection of eggs.

I love them!

And even better.. the kids do too!

Fancy Nancy Eggs

Every Easter we receive a special, handmade, fancy Nancy egg.
Oh, Fancy Nancy is Mom, in case you were wondering.
Mom works tirelessly and lovingly on each and every detail of the egg for weeks prior to Easter.

Blue Bunny Tails & Bunny Ears

We got a little "food crafty" in the kitchen!

We have been experimenting again!!! We call these, "Blue Bunny Tails" after one of our children's childhood stuffed blue bunny rabbits! If you really use your imagination of course you can see that these mini powdered doughnuts dipped in blue candy melts and topped with a few sprinkles are indeed Blue Bunny Tails! See!!!!......... See!!!

Easter Bread Inspiration

Easter bread memories from childhood.

Our Portuguese grandfather who was a baker would bring this bread to our house every Easter. We looked forward to it being part of the family Easter dinner every year.The bread always fascinated us as kids, and we thought it was magical how the bread had colored eggs on top! We haven't eaten our grandfather's special Easter bread recipe in many years, but this year I am considering baking an Easter Bread for our family Easter gathering.

This lovely Easter Bread loaf reminds me of my grandfathers traditional Easter bread with it's colorful eggs and golden brown color. I can smell it now! Here is another bread.

It doesn't get much easier than this!

Easter Candy Kabobs

Have you ever made these candy kabobs? I think they are so cute. They make a fun favor for parties, great to tuck in Christmas stockings... and I was thinking, Easter couldn't be a better time to make them! How cute would these be peaking out of an Easter basket?

Or... better yet... how about adding them to this year's Easter egg hunt!

Here are the things I used... not photographed is the hot glue gun, tape, sharpie, and ribbon.

Step 1
Make sure that your skewer is free from slivers. Some of these sticks splinter a bit, so you don't want to have to worry about pieces of the skewer breaking off into the candy.

Step 2
Start adding your candy and marshmallows.

The marshmallows and gummy candy can be a bit tricky to work with. I found it was a HUGE help to moisten the wooden skewer before sliding the candies on. I kept a damp washcloth on hand and would clean the stick off after sliding a few candies on. Also, if you find the candies (like the gummy worms) are rolling as you push them down - 1) your stick isn't damp/clean enough, and 2) try twisting it as you pull it down.

Make sure you leave enough room at the bottom for your handle.

A note when adding a chocolate covered marshmallow egg.... my first attempt failed! My egg cracked and a gross, gooey mess was left on the stick. The second try, I carefully pierced each side of the egg with the pointy end of a skewer. I twisted the stick until it made a nice hole in the chocolate.

I then made sure my skewer was clean and damp... and carefully slid the egg on making sure to poke through my pre-made holes. And SUCCESS!!

Finish adding your goodies. I added a marshmallow peep on top. A bunny peep would be cute too!

Step 3
Wrap it up!! Cut a piece of cellophane large enough to wrap your candy kabob.
