How do you reuse/upcycle different items in your everyday life?

I guess its time to stop buying new glass for my glass projects and start using what is already available. Glass does last forever. I might as well use it. My current project is cobalt glass water bottles and actually they can be used as vases with out even redesigning them.
Ive decided to slump and etch mine. My first one is slumped into a shallow bowl shape and decorated with beads and etch work! So Fun! I love the reusing the items!

New Glass Product... Green Glass and the Lady bug

This Bird feeder is created out of a beautiful hand cut, green glass and hand cut red and black glass for the lady bug.It has yellow glass accents running through the piece. It sits on a 16" fabricated wrought iron stand. The glass it self is 6" in diameter and 4.5" deep.

Glory-of-the-snow blue

Glory of the Snow is one of the first Spring flowers to blossom. Here is my Glory of the snow done in fused glass.
It measures 10" x 6".
I will be making it into a sun catcher. More pics to come....

 These are the blue glass fish that I have cut by hand.

 Prior to being placed in the kiln. I also fused fish hooks in them.

This is how they look after being baked in the kiln.

 I Love these little fish! I will be hanging them by fishing line.

These are blue glass fish I cut yesterday and they will probably spend 7-8 hours baking in the kiln today.

Thirsty Thursday

Thirsty Thursday

OK Wake n Bake Wednesday didn’t work out how it was planned as things rarely do. Life can sometimes put these little bumps in the road. No problem. I did as much glass creating as I could yesterday and called it a day.

I did finish up a couple orders and I did get the sun catcher drawn yesterday. I also cut out little fish from blue glass. The fish will be part of the hanging glass on the sun catcher. The little fish will be in the kiln today. I will be fusing trotline clips in them for easier hanging. That will be cute, fish hanging from the trotline clips with fishing line attached.

While the blue glass fish are in the kiln today, I will be cold working glassware for THIRSTY Thursday creating new designs for our favorite drinks. I plan to make some shamrock shots and something with martini glasses. I kind of like the fish theme, I’m a Pisces, maybe I’ll continue with that.

Im making fused glass sun catchers today. I will need to draw the sun catcher on paper then start on getting the glass cut.

Wake n Bake Wednesday

Today is a great day. Wake n Bake Wednesday is all about being up early baking homemade cinnamon rolls for the family and spending the rest of the day baking in my kiln. When days start out perfect like that, they are wonderful. However today did not start out like that. I overslept, so the family gets the refrigerated Cinnamon rolls and I didn't even start up the kiln yet. So in order to have my glass finished today I will have to work into the night. No need to panic it can still be a good day just getting a little bit later start and plan to stay up later tonight.

Tuesdays Temptation

 Tuesdays temptation for me is:


I'm tempted
to put off:  
paper work,
taxes,and
chores. Yuck!

and I'm tempted to hang out in my workshop all day creating new glass.



Of course I know better. Wednesdays are my day in the workshop to create all I want. So for today ill struggle and get through all of the grown up stuff I cant stand  (I think its called responsibilities) and the whole time Ill be looking forward to tomorrow when I can bake in the kiln and cold-work some unique glassware.

Lady Bugs on glass

Lady Bugs are surrounded by a great deal of superstition. The most common belief is that lady bugs are lucky.
Lady bugs eat harmful pests attracted to crops. Gardeners and farmers find these oval shaped red and black insects to be a lucky sight in their gardens.


I Loved Creating the little lady bug for this glass flower and they turn out so nice...CUTE!!

Sun Catchers

I just added a couple of new fused glass sun catchers to my Etsy shop. They look nice hanging in windows. The perfect spring gift.

Fused Blue Glass

Here is the bird feeder at the end of the slumping cycle. The first two pictures were taken when the glass is still in the kiln. The white circle around the glass is the drop ring mold. The glass slumps through the hole.



These next two pictures are of the glass out of the kiln. It came out perfect. Its a shallow dish perfect size for small birds to feed out of now I just need to
add the hook ground stake to it.

This is the bird feeder I started fusing. its flat now but the next step will be too slump the glass through a drop ring mold. I have to be careful not to slump too far or the glass can hit the floor of the kiln. Ill have to watch the glass closely.

This is my glass about to go in the kiln to create my bird feeder.
I'm using blue glass with some colorful stringer.
I cut the blue and clear into a circle. It fuses first then will be slumped.

Back to glass creations

Clean up was a grueling process. Its done.i can go back to creating today. Ill be working with green and blue glass. I haven't decided if Ill be making a sun catcher or small bird feeder dish. The bird feeder come out great. Here is one of mine that the birds use to love. I think because it was shiney.  When the dish is outside it sits in a wrought iron hook base.
