Christmas in July Handmade

  • Today's craft gives us a little Christmas in July. A snow filled candle holder that you can make to give as a gift or decorate your home during the holiday season.

  • Supplies:
All supplies can be purchased at your local craft store. If your not in the mood for creating. My handmade crafts are always on sale at: Glass City Gifts

1. a 3" clear glass cylinder candle holder
2. clear glass or red glass votive holder
3. iridescent snow flakes
4. A few artificial holly leaves with berries. You can also use fresh Holly but for this craft I used artificial.
5. Votive candle

  • Put as much of the snow flakes in to the larger cylinder candle holder. I fill mine about 1/4.
  • Place the votive holder inside the cylinder.
  • Add the Holly
  • Add votive candle to the votive holder

Thats it your craft is complete. I added a little extra handmade touch to my candle holder and etched snowflakes around the cylinder. My etched glass is shown in pictures above and can be purchased at: Glass City Gifts
I hope everyone attempts my crafts. They are fairly simple and fun to make. I will add packaging tips later for those of you giving these as gifts.

Free Bridal Shower Invitations

Click on the free printable bridal shower invitation to see it full size and download it.

This free bridal shower invitation is called Ivory Dreams, because of its dreamy cream color scheme with pale green, turquoise and purple accents. It's perfect for the bride-to-be who likes the finer things in life, but who also loves her faded jeans. I like to think of it as shabby chic for the discerning!

The graphics for this square invitation design came from three sources: ScrapofAngel, Kaklei Designs and Jamie Dell Scraps. I thank them all for use of their beautiful images.

I don't have a bridal shower invitations hub built yet, but you can find the instructions for printing this square invitation format by visiting my printable party invitations hub or clicking the yellow button below.

Free Blue Wedding Invitations

Click on the free printable light blue wedding invitation to see it full size and download it.

This free light blue wedding invitation template is the same design as my pink wedding invitation. It's a vertical design with lovely modern swirls in subtle shades. Since everyone obviously doesn't have pink as their wedding color, I thought I'd provide an alternative color that's also very popular.

As with the pink version, the grunge swirl border artwork in this wedding invitation template came from Kelcey of Luna Rosa Scraps. I thank her for permission to use her wonderful graphics.

If you'd like to see other blue wedding invitations or get instructions for making this invitation, click the link in this sentence or the button below. Also, I'm in the process of building a site that will offer very low-cost wedding invitations already set up to print that will be in kits with coordinated printables, such as "save the date," response and thank you cards, reception napkin rings and table place cards. I'll also have a variety of invitation kits for holidays and other occasions that will have various components, depending on the occasion. I'll link the site from this blog as soon as it launches, which should be in a few weeks or so.

Free Thanksgiving Dinner Party Invitations

Click on the free printable Thanksgiving invitation template to see it full size and download it.

free Thanksgiving party invitations
This free printable Thanksgiving party invitation template is just bursting with fall flowers that speak of the harvest. The muted autumn colors in the daisies and sunflowers that surround the invitation wording combine with pine boughs, seed pods and other fall foliage to create a welcoming invite for your Thanksgiving dinner guests.

The lovely fall graphics in this Thanksgiving invitation design come from Karen Kleiman of KaKlei Designs. They're quite a bit different than her dreamier and softer designs, some of which I used in my Enchanted Garden all-occasion summer invitation template. The diversity speaks to her talent and flexibility as an artist.

I just created a Thanksgiving invitations hub, which has five other designs and instructions for creating this size invitation. Click the link in the previous sentence or the yellow button below to visit the hub.

Handmade gifts...Indoor Herb Pots

Handmade gifts are the best type of gifts. Here are instructions for a fairly simple project. I have received herb pots as gifts and they are so nice. I have fresh herbs when ever Im cooking and year round.

Herb Pots
Supplies needed for the Indoor herb pots
4" Terracotta pot
2 c. organic potting soil
18g. stainless steel wire 7"
organic herb seeds ( I chose Basil for this project)
plastic baggie
10 " square material
ribbon
needle nose pliers
sm. 3" envelope
Vitrea paint pen ( bakes on to become permanent)
herb scissors (optional)
1.choose how you will decorate your pot. paint, stencil, etc.or leave it natural they look just as nice without decorating them at all. I used the vitrea paint pen drew a few leaves and wrote the word Herbs on the front.
2.add 2 C. organic soil to a baggie put a rubber band around it.
3. Place the baggie in the center of your material pull the sides up up and tie it with your ribbon.
4.The herb marker. Use your needle nose pliers to twist the wire into a spiral. I made up the BASIL marker on the computer. Printed it on card stock. It fits perfectly into the stainless steel marker. You can see it in the picture.
5. The small envelope i used to put the seeds inside and labeled the front. I also inserted a card in the envelope for growing directions. The pot needs to be placed on a window ledge that receives plenty of sun.
6. You can add any other details you want. Herb scissors, small stones, small garden shovel. I found adorable herb pot markers on Etsy. I added a fused glass stone to mine with the word GROW fused in it.
The end result is so cute.
I actually ended up etching the front of one of my pots.
if you dont feel like crafting and making your own mine are for sale at Glass City Gifts on Etsy.

This completes my first project for my blog. Hope everyone has fun giving it a try.
